Kiero Project in Whanganui — Calling for Community Partners

I am excited to share that I have officially become a Kiero Adviser.

This DIY little Kiero was made of apple box in Japan.

My vision is simple:

to make Kiero accessible in every household in Whanganui, and eventually across New Zealand.

Right now, I have a wonderful opportunity to apply for the Waste Minimisation Fund,

If successful, this funding will allow me to:

  • Offer free Kiero workshops for the community
  • Provide affordable Kiero systems
  • Support installation and setup in homes and community spaces

This is a meaningful step forward—especially right after becoming an official adviser!

Calling for Whanganui Project Participants

For this Kiero project, I am looking for enthusiastic people in Whanganui who would like to be part of the journey with me!

Who I’m looking for:

  • Living in Whanganui
  • Willing to take part in a monthly survey and monitoring process
  • Households that currently send most kitchen scraps to landfill
  • People who would like to reduce their general waste bin usage
  • Individuals who care about the environment and want to take practical action
  • Anyone who may be interested in becoming a future Kiero workshop facilitator

You don’t need a large garden—or even a garden at all. ( Still over 30cmx50cm patch of the ground you need.)

In fact, this project is especially designed for everyday households.

Why this matters

Kiero is not just a composting system.
It is a simple way to reconnect kitchen waste back into natural cycles, right at home. It’s very simple. You will be amazed what Kiero will bring to your life.

My goal is to help Whanganui take a real step toward:

  • Less landfill waste
  • More soil regeneration
  • Easier, everyday composting habits

And ultimately, to introduce Kiero more widely across New Zealand.
