I hope 2026 has started gently for you.
I wanted to share a quick update from JEEM Compost Lab.
I’ll be heading to Japan for a couple of weeks, taking some time with family — and of course, keeping my compost antenna fully switched on.
While I’m there, I’ll be looking at how Kiero and composting are used in Japan, what’s similar, what’s different, and what we can learn from it.
Composting always reflects culture, lifestyle, and space.
Japan and New Zealand approach waste very differently, and I’m excited to observe Kiero through that lens.
I’ll share insights, photos, and reflections once I’m back — and maybe even a few ideas that could work beautifully across both countries.
So for now, let’s say:
pause, observe, and compost thoughtfully.
We’ll catch up soon!

Warmly,
Mariko
